The A-League is the major domestic soccer competition in Australia and is run by Australian governing body Football Federation Australia, The competition was founded in 2004 and commenced its first season in 2005-06.
The A League champion for the 2009/2010 season was Sydney Football Club who defeated Melbourne 4-2 on penalties in the Grand Final after the game ended in a 1-1 draw at the completion of the match.
