The A-League is the major domestic soccer competition in Australia and is run by Australian governing body Football Federation Australia, The competition was founded in 2004 and commenced its first season in 2005-06.
The A League 2009/2010 season commenced on Thursday August 6th when reigning premier Melbourne Victory met Central Coast Mariners under lights at Etihad stadium in Melbourne.
